Leda is a middle-aged divorce devoted to the work of an English teacher and her two children. When her daughters leave the house to be with their father in Canada, Leda waits for a time of loneliness and longing. Instead of feeling a little confused, he feels liberated, like his life has just gotten easier. He decides to take a vacation by the sea in a small coastal town in southern Italy. But after a few days of silence, it takes a threatening turn. Leda meets a family whose cheeky presence turns out to be fearful, sometimes even threatening.
